Château Angludet
The estate

Angludet has been the Sichel family's home since 1961 — Peter Sichel of the great Bordeaux négociant house raised his family here, and his son Benjamin farms it today. The estate, inland from the river on the cooler gravels of Cantenac, is run with the perspective of owners who also hold a share of Château Palmer: they know exactly what top Margaux tastes like and price Angludet honestly against it. The wine is unclassified and unbothered — Cabernet Sauvignon-led with Merlot and a dash of Petit Verdot, made for fragrance, suppleness, and a decade's graceful aging. For drinkers rather than trophy hunters, it has long been one of the appellation's most dependable buys, vintage after vintage.
