Château Berliquet

Berliquet is old Saint-Émilion — the name appears in the eighteenth century, earlier than most of its grander neighbors — and its ten hectares occupy a privileged corner of the limestone plateau and côte beside Canon and Bélair-Monange. For years it was the appellation's sleeping beauty, well sited and lightly noticed. That changed in 2017 when Chanel, fresh from reviving Canon next door, bought the estate and handed it to the same team under Nicolas Audebert. The early results follow the Canon blueprint: Merlot and Cabernet Franc from limestone, picked bright, raised in measured oak, and aimed at chalk-dust finesse rather than weight. A Grand Cru Classé still priced below its postcode, which is unlikely to last.
