Château d'Armailhac — estate
The estate

Château d'Armailhac is Pauillac from the Mouton stable. A Fifth Growth in 1855, the estate was acquired by Baron Philippe de Rothschild in the 1930s and spent decades as Mouton Baron Philippe — later Mouton Baronne Philippe — before reclaiming its historic name with the 1989 vintage. Farmed by the same team as Mouton Rothschild and Clerc Milon, its vineyards lie between those two properties, and the wine shows the family resemblance: generous Pauillac fruit, spice and supple structure, offered at a price that makes it one of the appellation's most dependable values.
