Château de Beaucastel

Château de Beaucastel is Châteauneuf-du-Pape's great classicist. In Perrin family hands since 1909, the estate farms its galet-strewn vineyards with the full roster of the appellation's permitted grape varieties — and gives Mourvèdre an unusually leading role beside Grenache, lending the wine its signature savory depth and capacity to age. The Perrins were farming organically decades before it was fashionable, and the range runs from the profound grand vin to the rare Hommage à Jacques Perrin, made only in exceptional years, and a Roussanne Vieilles Vignes that stands among the southern Rhône's most singular whites.
