Figeac is Saint-Émilion's great Cabernet estate. Its 41 hectares lie in a single block on the deep gravel plateau running toward Pomerol — soils closer to the Médoc than to the limestone of the côtes — and the vineyard is planted to roughly equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot, a balance no neighbor attempts. The Manoncourt family has farmed it since 1892; Thierry Manoncourt, who ran the property for half a century, made it the standard-bearer for structured, age-worthy Saint-Émilion, and the estate's promotion to Premier Grand Cru Classé A in 2022 confirmed what collectors had long priced in. A gravity-fed cellar completed for the 2021 vintage serves a wine of cedar, dark fruit, and firm, patient tannin — Saint-Émilion built on a Médoc chassis.
