Château Langoa-Barton

Château Langoa-Barton is the family seat of the Médoc's most enduring dynasty. The Bartons bought Langoa in 1821 — five years before acquiring their piece of Léoville — and the handsome chartreuse here has produced both wines ever since. A Third Growth in 1855, Langoa is cut from the same classical cloth as its more famous sibling: Cabernet-led, cedar and blackcurrant, honestly priced. It simply runs on a slightly faster clock, generous a few years earlier while still aging gracefully for decades. For those who love the Barton style, it is one of St-Julien's most dependable pleasures.
