Château Latour

Château Latour is the Médoc's monument to permanence. A First Growth in 1855, its core is L'Enclos — some 47 hectares of gravel beside the Gironde whose vines, warmed by the estuary, yield one of the most powerful and longest-lived wines in the world. Owned since 1993 by François Pinault's Artémis group, the estate famously left the en primeur system in 2012, releasing its wines only when it judges them ready to drink. Cabernet Sauvignon utterly dominates the grand vin; Les Forts de Latour, from parcels outside the Enclos and younger vines within it, stands among Bordeaux's most serious second wines, with Pauillac de Latour as a third label.
