Château Léoville Barton

Château Léoville Barton is the Médoc's great constant. Bought by the Anglo-Irish Barton family in 1826 and never sold since, it has passed through the same hands longer than nearly any classed growth — today those of Lilian Barton-Sartorius and her children. There is no château on the property; the wine has always been made at neighboring Langoa Barton, which only adds to the estate's unshowy character. The wine itself is St-Julien in its purest classical form — Cabernet-led, cedar-scented, firm in youth and gracious for decades — and the family's tradition of restrained release pricing has earned a loyalty money cannot buy.
