Château Malescot-St.-Exupéry — estate
The estate

A Third Growth of 1855 whose double-barreled name joins an early owner, Simon Malescot, with Jean-Baptiste de St-Exupéry — great-great-grandfather of the aviator-author — Château Malescot-St-Exupéry farms some 28 hectares in the heart of Margaux. The Zuger family restored the property from near-dereliction after 1955, and consulting from Michel Rolland brought riper, more polished tannins from the late 1990s onward. It is Margaux in a generous register: violet-scented, fleshy, and reliably among the appellation's best values at classified level.
