Château Saint-Pierre — estate
The estate

Château Saint-Pierre is St-Julien's smallest classed growth and one of its most quietly overachieving. Revived by Henri Martin — the legendary Médoc figure who built Château Gloria from scratch — and carried forward by his family, the estate farms old vines on fine gravel near Beychevelle, producing a wine of uncommon density for its rank: dark, velvety, generously fruited yet firmly St-Julien in its balance. Because production is limited and the name less trumpeted than its neighbors, Saint-Pierre has long been a favorite of drinkers who care more about what is in the glass than on the label.
