Château Suduiraut
The estate

Château Suduiraut holds the plot every Sauternes producer covets: vines running to the very boundary of Château d'Yquem. A Premier Cru Classé in 1855 and owned by AXA Millésimes, the estate makes one of the appellation's most opulent wines — saffron, apricot and crème brûlée richness swept clean by acidity, the product of patient, parcel-by-parcel picking of botrytized fruit. As tastes have shifted, Suduiraut has also become a leader in Sauternes' dry-white renaissance, its sec bottlings turning the same old Sémillon vines to a different purpose. In great vintages, few sweet wines anywhere offer such grandeur.
