Domaine de Montille — estate
The estate

Domaine de Montille stands for a certain idea of red Burgundy: wines of sinew, perfume and patience rather than sweetness and polish. Hubert de Montille — the Dijon lawyer who made Volnay Taillepieds famous and stole the film Mondovino — built the house style on early picking and fearless structure; his son Etienne has broadened the domaine from its Volnay and Pommard heartland to Vosne-Romanée Malconsorts, Corton and the white grand terroir of Puligny Le Cailleret, farming organically with a taste for whole clusters. Young, the wines withhold; given ten years, few Burgundies are more articulate about where they come from.
