Felton Road

Felton Road is Central Otago's defining estate. From Bannockburn's schist and clay at the bottom of the world, it has shown since its first vintage in 1997 that Pinot Noir of genuine finesse — not just fruit power — can come from New Zealand's far south. Under owner Nigel Greening and founding winemaker Blair Walter, the vineyards are farmed biodynamically and the cellar work stays deliberately gentle, letting the single blocks speak: the silken Block 3 and darker Block 5 from the home Elms vineyard, Calvert's florality, Cornish Point's spice. The Chardonnays and Rieslings are quiet stars in their own right.
