Orma

Orma is proof of how little land you need on the Via Bolgherese if it is the right land: a compact vineyard wedged directly between Sassicaia and Ornellaia, bought in 2004 by Antonio Moretti Cuseri of Tuscany's Tenuta Sette Ponti. The name means footprint, and the ambition was never modest — Merlot leads the blend, with both Cabernets in support, farmed row by row on some of the most valuable gravel and clay in coastal Tuscany. The wine wears the appellation's signature dark polish: ripe black fruit, fine sweet tannin, and Mediterranean herbs, made in small enough quantity that it sells on allocation. Among the newer Bolgheri estates, few have gone from first vintage to serious collector attention faster.
