Tasting note
Neal Martin · Vinous · 95
Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2012 tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Bienvenue Btard Montrachet Grand Cru from Jean-Claude Bachelet is showing just a small amount of reduction, but there is admirable detail and delineation here, an underlying minerality that needs a few years to surface once that reductive element dissipates. The palate is crisp and taut with hints of fresh green apple and pear, but what distinguishes this Bienvenue is the striking mineral nature of the finish. This has very good potential, but one for those who have a soft spot for that reductive style of white Burgundy. Wonderful!
