Tasting note
Decanter.com · Decanter · 96
Domaine du Coulet is at the forefront of the contemporary style of Cornas; less dense, less extracted, more vibrant and more drinkable. This is from 55 year old vines grown biodynamically on granite. There are no winemaking additions, and natural yeasts are used. It's aged for 12 months in old 500l barrels, then a further 12 months in concrete eggs. It has meat jus and roasting pan scrapings on the nose - really meaty and wild. The full-bodied palate is peppery and herbal, with a kind of vibrant savouriness alongside good, fresh acidity and fine tannins. Gorgeously drinkable.
