Tasting notes
Antonio Galloni · Vinous · 96
The 2015 Extra-Brut Clos des Goisses Juste Rosé is a powerful, vinous Champagne. This is one of the most potent, deeply-colored Juste Rosés I can remember tasting. All the elements are impeccably balanced. Readers should expect a rich, heady Rosé, a Champagne for the dinner table. I must admit, I like this style more than some previous versions that were decidedly on the ethereal end of the spectrum.

Wonderfully rich and perfumed, this rosé Champagne has aromas of wild red cherries, strawberries, roses and lavender with touches of blood oranges and paprika. Silky, ripe and rounded but fresh, with generous red and orange fruit character. 84% pinot noir (including 28% saignee) and 16% chardonnay. 4.5 g/L dosage. Disgorged March 2025. Drink or hold.

Philipponnat’s 2015 Clos des Goisses Juste Rosé announces itself with a strikingly deep hue, derived from the 28% vinified as rosé de saignée blended with the white component. Comprising 84% Pinot Noir and 16% Chardonnay, approximately 71% of it was vinified in oak. The wine opens with expressive aromas of pomegranate, pink grapefruit and cherry. On the palate, it is full-bodied, ample and textural, with a generous core of fruit energized by ripe yet racy acidity, concluding with a long, delicately phenolic finish. Reaching 12.1% potential alcohol prior to harvest, this is a structured, muscular Champagne ideally suited to pair with red meats and tuna. It was disgorged in March 2025 with a dosage of 4.5 grams per liter—typical of the house.
