Tasting notes
Jane Anson · Decanter · 94
Plush and pumped up, stretching out with those elongated tannins and fresh acidities. Totally gorgeous cassis, blackberry, coffee, peppery spice, slate and tar. It's muscular and ripped, but with a wonderfully rich, textured quality to the tannins. Very much a physical experience, you are pushing through these flavours one at a time. 96% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc. Drinking Window 2027 - 2045.

The 2016 Feytit Clinet, a blend of 93% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc, has such purity on the nose that you would almost consider this to be a Grand Cru Burgundy! It unfolds in the glass, black cherries mixed with raspberry coulis, just a little new oak to be integrated as it will during its barrel maturation. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe blackberry and bilberry notes, here certainly in Pomerol territory with sage and black truffle emerging towards the persistent finish. Jérémy Chasseuil has crafted a wonderful follow-up to the impressive 2015 Feytit-Clinet and I cannot wait to taste this from bottle.
