Blended from the lieux-dits of La Crau and Rayas, the 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape La Muse tank sample carries a hint of fresh herbs upfront for freshness but also plush black cherry fruit, creamy/supple tannins and a long, licorice-tinged finish. It looks to be a stunner!

Bright-rimmed ruby. Assertive aromas of red berry liqueur, candied cherry and potpourri are complemented by exotic spice and mineral flourishes. Supple and appealingly sweet, offering palate-staining raspberry, kirsch and floral pastille flavors along with a hint of licorice. Finishes impressively long and seamless; velvety tannins build slowly and add gentle grip.
