Tasting notes
Audrey Frick · Jeb Dunnuck · 100
Sixty percent of the 2022 Pinot Noir Finn comes from the Bressay Vineyard with Calera selection and the rest from old vines on Occidental Road, with unknown plant material (planted with eight or so clones) that they pick all at one time, which adds a lot of complexity to this wine. It opens to complex and layered aromas of kirsch, fresh violets, sweet tobacco, and mossy earth, followed on the palate by a complete wine with velvety tannins and harmonious acidity, everything coming together seamlessly. A stunning wine, it’s one of the best wines of the vintage. It’s going to be hard to hold in the cellar, but it will be worth it. Drink 2024-2050.

Medium to deep ruby-purple in color, the 2022 Pinot Noir Finn explodes from the glass with powerful notes of juicy blackberries, pomegranate, boysenberries, and aniseed followed by hints of menthol and crushed rocks. The medium-bodied palate is dense with black berry and earthy layers, supported by plush tannins and seamless freshness, finishing long and earthy. Nice! This comes 60% from the Bressay vineyard and 40% from Occidental Road.

A very pinpointed pinot with crushed stone, blueberry, raspberry and strawberry aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied and very reserved, with a linear intensity and great length. Tight focus at the end with dark berries and plums. Excellent potential. Best after 2027.

The 2022 Pinot Noir Finn comes from the Occidental Road Vineyard (40%) and Dumol's Bressay Estate Vineyard. Grapes were harvested on August 19, 22 and 24, before the Labor Day heat wave. It has singular aromas reminiscent of sweet-and-sour sauce, with initial brown sugar sparks giving way to crunchy Asian plum and wild berries, and it gains detail and expression with time in the glass. The light-bodied palate is silky and weightless. Its complex, bitters-laced flavors are backlit by bright acidity, and it has a long, detailed finish. 740 cases were made.

The 2022 Pinot Noir Finn is a potent, tightly-wound wine. Strong savory and mineral notes give the 2022 notable verve to play off its mid-weight personality. Crushed rocks, white pepper, slate, orange peel, mint and dried flowers are nicely delineated in this vibrant, chiseled Pinot. There's gorgeous depth and character here. Finn is a blend of fruit from Bressay (58%) and Occidental Road (42%).
