Château L'Eglise-Clinet

Château L'Eglise-Clinet is proof of how far devotion can carry four and a half hectares. On deep clay and gravel beside the church of Pomerol, its vineyard kept its ancient vines through the killer frost of 1956 that forced much of the plateau to replant — old Merlot and Cabernet Franc that gave Denis Durantou the raw material to lift the estate, patiently and without fanfare, into Pomerol's first rank over forty years. Since his passing his daughters have continued the work. The wine is dense yet fresh, floral over iron, among the longest-lived of all Pomerols; La Petite Eglise is the approachable shadow.
