The estate

Marchesi Antinori has been making wine in Tuscany since 1385, and twenty-six generations later the family still runs the house — a continuity without parallel in fine wine. Its modern chapter was written by Piero Antinori, whose Tignanello broke Chianti's rules in the early 1970s by blending Sangiovese with Cabernet and aging it in French barriques, igniting the super-Tuscan movement and, with Solaia, giving Italy two of its most collected wines. Today, under his daughter Albiera, the family's estates reach from the Chianti Classico heartland to Guado al Tasso in Bolgheri, Pian delle Vigne in Montalcino and Castello della Sala in Umbria.
