Pape Clément Blanc 2010

This is a powerful white with wonderful mineral and citrus character on the nose and palate. Full and racy, bright acidity and dense palate. Long, long finish. Excellent.

A blend of 51% Sauvignon Blanc, 33% Semillon and the rest Sauvignon Gris, this wine has staggering aromatics of orange blossom, lemon custard, pineapple and mango. Exotic, rich and full-bodied, it should drink nicely for at least 10 -15 years or more.

Deep straw yellow. Knockout aromas of wax, pear and white peach reminded me more of semillon than sauvignon blanc. Enters the mouth chewy, big and fleshy, with very rich apple, pear, hazelnut and banana cream pie flavors, then turns increasingly tannic on the long, oaky finish. Really great stuff here: all it needs is a little time to digest its oak. This will be especially appreciated by those who enjoy a richer, creamier style of white Bordeaux with ripe tropical fruit and buttery notes.
