Tasting notes

Aldo Fiordelli · Decanter · 96

After 30 to 36 months in big oak casks, this 2019 vintage of one of Serralunga's most celebrated MGAs shines for its restrained nose of Parma violets, wild strawberry, orange juice and a super-intense, stunning rhubarb root character. It's floral as well on the palate, elegant and refined, very classic, with polished, velvety tannins that are dusty on the finish. The structure defies time here; the potential is great.

The 2019 Barolo Cerretta is an attractive red with a supple perfume and a balanced sheen and purity. It displays elegance and grace, though it still has great Serrralunga structure. With the ripe, sweet tannins that are characteristic of these wines. This is a really wonderful wine that can be drunk now or over the next 15 to 20 years.

Jane Anson · Decanter · 95

2019 a great vintage in Italy and this is a delicious, softly-spoken Barolo, with the finesse and chiselled tannins of Cerretta, delivering the combination of translucence and yet intensity of flavour. Tobacco, sage, cut herbs, raspberry, redcurrant, pomegranate, mandarin peel, high acidity, with a subtle building up of juicy flavours is enticing and impressive. Andrea Delpiano winemaker. Ageing in a mix of 25 and 50hl barrels French oak.

Antonio Galloni · Vinous · 94

The 2019 Barolo Cerretta is soft, delicate and classy. Dried rose petal, cinnamon, blood orange, mint and dried flowers fill out the layers. This effortless, layered Barolo opens nicely with a bit of time in the glass. There's gorgeous resonance and plenty of class here.

Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW · Wine Advocate · 93+

Pale garnet-purple in color, the 2019 Barolo Cerretta waltzes out with fragrant scents of kirsch, dried roses, and redcurrant jelly, plus wafts of charcoal and tobacco leaf. The medium to full-bodied palate has firm, chalky tannins and bright acidity supporting the delicate red berry and mineral flavors, finishing long and earthy.
