Giovanni Rosso is Serralunga d'Alba in bottle. Davide Rosso farms a spread of the commune's finest slopes — Cerretta and Serra among them — and crowns the range with wine from Vigna Rionda, the cru many consider Serralunga's greatest, drawn from old vines under the Ester Canale Rosso label that collectors chase as fiercely as any Barolo made today. The style honors the village signature: iron-edged structure and dark, saline depth that demand a few years but repay many. A parallel project on the north slope of Mount Etna shows the same instinct for volcanic soils and long-lived mountain wine.
