The golden-coloured 2020 Gewurztraminer Rangen de Thann Clos Saint Urbain opens with ripe pear, dark chocolate, coriander and flinty aromas. On the palate, this is a rich, fresh, lively, piquant and grapefruit-bitter Gewürztraminer with fine tannins and long salinity. The finish is very long and still somewhat bitter, but this is a great, powerful, age-worthy Gewürz. It was bottled with 15.6% de facto alcohol and 2.5 grams per litre of residual sugar.
