Giovanni Rosso, Barolo, La Serra 2021

The 2021 Barolo Serra pours a deeper red pigment and is more introspective on the nose, with notes of ripe cherries, polished leather, balsamic herbs, and rosemary. It saturates and fills the palate with a well-balanced and full-bodied richness, refreshing acidity, ripe tannins, and a long, mineral-noted finish. It offers more depth and complexity all around and is going to improve with another year or so in bottle.

A restrained wine with subtle, austere aromas of violets, dark cherries, licorice and a touch of rhubarb. Slightly sweet on the palate, with a medium to full body, crisp acidity and vivid, firm, dusty tannins. Angular and stern, yet with a good finish. Try after 2028.
