Château Margaux

Château Margaux is the First Growth as archetype: a neoclassical estate at the heart of the appellation that shares its name, where some 80 hectares of deep gravel raise Cabernet Sauvignon of singular perfume. Under the Mentzelopoulos family since 1977 — and shaped for three decades by the late Paul Pontallier — the grand vin pairs silk and structure like no other Médoc, while Pavillon Rouge and the old-vine Sauvignon Blanc of Pavillon Blanc extend the estate's precision across the range. At its best, Margaux is less about power than about line: a wine of pure, sustained articulation.
