The estate

Château Montrose owns one of the Médoc's most privileged positions: a single unbroken vineyard on a gravel rise directly above the Gironde, whose tempering breath spares the vines the worst of frost and heat alike. A Second Growth in 1855, Montrose has long been called the Latour of St-Estèphe for the density and sheer longevity of its wine — the 1989 and 1990 are already legends. Under Martin and Olivier Bouygues, owners since 2006, the estate has been renovated from cellar to vine row with uncommon ambition. La Dame de Montrose, the second wine, offers the house's dark power on an earlier clock.
