Domaine de la Romanee-Conti

No estate in Burgundy — arguably none anywhere — commands the reverence of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. From a handful of grand cru parcels in Vosne-Romanée and Flagey-Échezeaux, including the walled monopoles of Romanée-Conti and La Tâche, the domaine produces vanishingly small quantities of Pinot Noir and, in Le Montrachet, Chardonnay, farmed biodynamically and raised with almost monastic patience. Co-directed for decades by Aubert de Villaine, whose stewardship set the standard for quiet precision, DRC bottles are less commodities than events: allocated, traded, and cellared with a devotion no other wine inspires.
