Domaine Joseph Faiveley
The estate
Founded in Nuits-Saint-Georges in 1825, Domaine Faiveley is that Burgundian rarity: a négociant name whose heart is actually one of the region's largest family-owned domaines, with premier and grand cru parcels running from Chambertin to the Côte Chalonnaise and the monopole Clos des Cortons Faiveley at its center. When seventh-generation Erwan Faiveley took charge in 2005, the house style pivoted — the old sturdy, tannic frame gave way to suppler textures and brighter aromatics without losing its capacity to age. The transformation ranks among modern Burgundy's most convincing.
