The estate

Luciano Sandrone was Barolo's great self-made man: a cooper's son and cellar hand who bought his first parcel of Cannubi Boschis in the 1970s and, from a garage-sized cellar, built one of the appellation's most admired houses. His two Barolos became modern references — Aleste, the renamed Cannubi Boschis bottling dedicated to his grandchildren, all perfume and polished depth; and Le Vigne, a blend of crus assembled like a chord. The style bridges Barolo's old and new schools: immaculate fruit and refined tannin without losing Nebbiolo's savage edge. Since Luciano's passing in 2023, his family carries the estate forward unchanged.
