The estate

Château Mouton Rothschild bent history to its will. Ranked second in 1855, it campaigned under Baron Philippe de Rothschild's motto — first I cannot be, second I do not deign to be, Mouton I am — until 1973, when it won the only revision ever made to the classification and took its place among the Firsts. Philippe also invented château bottling in 1924 and the artist label in 1945, drawing Picasso, Chagall and Warhol to the cellar door. The wine matches the theater: Pauillac at its most opulent, all cassis, exotic spice and velvet. Le Petit Mouton and the white Aile d'Argent complete the range.
